GRANDPARENT HOMES BOOK BY ADAM CARL SMITH

When it comes to grandparents, especially grandparents’ homes, many of us are flooded with sentiment and eager to share stories.

For Adam Carl Smith, the nostalgia surrounding his late grandparents’ home was so strong that he orchestrated the home’s move on an 18-wheeler west on I-40 from Des Arc, Arkansas, to downtown Little Rock. Salvaging the walls that had always held him tenderly, he has lovingly renovated, personalized, and transformed the house into his own forever home. Now, Adam is creating a book devoted to others who, like him, are holding onto the memory of their grandparents by living in their homes.

Do you currently reside in a home that once belonged to your grandparents or the grandparents of a partner or spouse? We can’t wait to read its story and see pictures!

ADAM CARL SMITH grew up in a farming community outside the small town of Des Arc in rural Arkansas with his parents, older brother, and younger sister. His parents and grandparents were all farmers who grew various row crops.  Growing up, Adam worked on the farm, helped his grandmother in the garden, and regularly  attended church services and church activities.

In 2000, he moved to Little Rock and in 2015 began the project of relocating his grandparents’ house to downtown Little Rock and the total renovation of the house.

Adam has worked over 25 years in floral design and interior design and is now self employed, working for an extensive list of established clients.  His design projects have taken him across Arkansas and several other states.

Adam has chaired and served on committees of many fund raising events for local charities, most of which support troubled youth and teens.

In his spare time, Adam enjoys spending time with his friends and family, entertaining his Rhodesian Ridgeback, Greta, and working in his yard.
