Sarah-Catherine (“SC”) Gutierrez is author of But First, Save 10: The One Simple Money Move that Will Change Your Life ( among TIME NextAdvisor’s Top 11 Personal Finance Books of 2021).

SC has been named to the InvestmentNews “40 Under 40” list and featured in Real Simple Magazine.

She is the founder of Aptus Financial and holds an MPP from Harvard University and the CFP® and CRPS® designations. She founded Aptus in 2011 with a fixed fee, “advice only” pricing model aimed at eliminating financial conflicts of interest. The Aptus team of planners has now worked with hundreds of clients in over 40 states. They have also implemented over a dozen retirement plans with fixed fees and focused on financial wellness.

SC is adjunct instructor of Surgery, Department of Surgery, for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is a national speaker on the following topics: “living like a resident” aimed at young attending physicians to aggressively pay off student loan debt; eliminating conflicts of interest in the financial industry; and recruiting women to become financial advisors. SC runs a blog for women and finance called “Ladysplaining money” and is the co-founder of “SAVE10,” a campaign to empower women to save for life and retirement.

SC is married to Jorge Gutierrez, and they have three children Marco (6), Max (5) and Lucia (3).

But First, Save 10 is SC’s first book.
